WHY attend a bookstore reading?

~ my own constellation of reasons ~

"#1. escape the screens and refresh	#2. it's fun to take along a friend and then nosh it over at dinner	#3. take care of holiday and birthday gift shopping (preferably with the featured author's book)
#4. see writing friends (if they happen to be there and if not, oh well)	#5. leave postcards for my own books at the cash register (if I happen to remember and if not, oh well)	#6. take notes on the audience's hairstyles and body language, (my favorite writing exercise)
#7. portfolio diversification: an autographed first edition can turn out to be surprisingly valuable!	#8. meet the author and get a sense of the book beyond the book."  —Yours Truly
